How to make a collage for printing

Choose the print size first — 4×6, 5×7, 8×10, A4 or US Letter — so the printable collage has the same shape as the paper. Add photos, arrange them and download a PNG or JPG. The download window shows how many pixels a 300 DPI print needs and the approximate DPI of your file. You receive a digital file; printing and shipping are not included.

For A4 and Letter, choose 4096 pixels. More pixels cannot add detail that a small or blurry original photo never had.

Why start with a printable collage

A printable collage that already matches the paper shape will not be squeezed or trimmed by the print shop. Make one printable collage per paper size rather than resizing a finished one.

At the printer

Borderless printing can enlarge a printable collage and crop its edges. If the outer photos matter, choose a setting that fits the whole image, and print one test copy first. This tool sets pixel dimensions, not your printer’s paper settings. See the print size guide for more.

Can I save my collage as a PDF?

This tool downloads PNG or JPG files, not PDFs. Print the PNG or JPG at the matching paper size. If you need a PDF, most computers can save an image as a PDF from the print dialog.

Do you print and ship collages?

No. You download a digital PNG or JPG and print it yourself or with a photo printing service.

Is the printable collage big enough for 8×10?

At 3000 pixels an 8×10 collage is about 300 DPI; at 4096 pixels it is about 410 DPI.

Should I save my printable collage as PNG or JPG?

PNG keeps the most detail. JPG is smaller and usually accepted by printing services.

Why is my print cropped?

The paper size may not match the collage shape, or borderless printing may enlarge it. Match the canvas to the paper and turn off borderless printing.
